A Conversation with Graphic Journalist Joe Sacco

Graphic journalist and author Joe Sacco discusses his work and career with Hot House host Patrick Howard.

The recipient of multiple awards over a career spanning four decades, Mr. Sacco is best known for his unique brand of graphic journalism, an iconic style he practically invented. Sacco’s work portrays the plight of the disadvantaged in striking detail, with emphasis on individual human stories.

His most recent work Paying the Land chronicles economic challenges confronting a First Nations community in Canada. Sacco is also widely recognized for his coverage of conflict zones, from the war in Bosnia to the current struggles in the Middle East.

In response to recent events, a new edition of Sacco’s pioneering graphic novel Palestine has been re-issued, along with a new weekly series titled The War on Gaza available on The Comics Journal.
